(UroToday.com) At the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) – American Urologic Association (AUA) 2020 Virtual Summer Webcast Program’s renal cancer session, Professor Alexander Kutikov discussed active surveillance for small renal masses and expanding indications for surveillance. Dr. Kutikov notes that there are treatment disconnect concerns in that there is an increasing incidence of renal mass detection and an increasing number of surgeries being performed, however, there is also increasing cancer-specific mortality and overall mortality rates. Interestingly, at the registry level, the imputation of missing data and adjustment for incidence rate attenuates the treatment disconnect phenomenon.
