Randomized clinical trials assessing third-line therapies to treat non-neurogenic overactive bladder syndrome: a review about methodology.

Using similar methodologies and outcome measures is crucial to allow pertinent literature reviews and meta-analyses. Therefore, this scoping review aims to compare methodologies of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) assessing the efficacy of third-line therapies to treat non-neurogenic OAB: intradetrusor onabotulinumtoxinA (BoNTA) injections, sacral neuromodulation (SNM) and posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS).

Can We Rely Solely on the International Prostate Symptoms Score to Investigate Storage Symptoms in Men with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms Associated with Benign Prostatic Enlargement? Findings from a Cross-sectional Study.

Discrepancies exist between patient-reported storage phase symptoms severity and International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) scores. To investigate whether the Overactive Bladder questionnaire (OABq) can detect further storage phase lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) among patients complaining solely of voiding LUTS based on the IPSS questionnaire, and to address the real-life impact of voiding LUTS towards […]

Therapeutic effects of non-invasive, individualized, transcranial neuromodulation treatment for voiding dysfunction in multiple sclerosis patients: study protocol for a pilot clinical trial.

Voiding dysfunction (VD) is a common neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Currently, the only effective management for VD and urinary retention in MS patients is catheterization, prompting us to look for novel therapeutic options beyond the bladder, such as the brain.

SUFU 2021: Stress Urinary Incontinence: Better Defining the Context of Leakage Among Physical Activities

(UroToday.com) A web-based survey of women recruited through ResearchMatch, a national online registry, was performed using the newly developed Lower Urinary Tract Research Network-Symptom Index (LURN-SI-29) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQSF). Additional questions were included to understand typical exercise frequency, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) during physical activities, and adaptive behaviors.

SUFU 2021: Toileting Behavior in the Gig Economy: Understanding the Genitourinary Impact For the New Workforce

(UroToday.com) The authors note that there is very little data on genitourinary habits of those engaged in gig work. Gig workers have limited access to restrooms, work in a business where profit is based on timely production, and this industry lacks consistent labor protections. The objective was to determine whether gig workers experience a self-reported change […]

SUFU 2021: Short-Term Outcomes of Periurethral Injection of Polyacrylamide Hydrogel (Bulkamid®) for Stress Urinary Incontinence with Intrinsic Sphincter Deficiency, Post Mid-Urethral Sling, and Post Mesh Sling Excision

(UroToday.com) Polyacrylamide Hydrogel (PAHG), Bulkamid®, is a non-particle-based urethral bulking agent that has demonstrated longer-term durability compared to other bulking agents. This study examined short-term outcomes of PAGH injection in an initial cohort, specifically looking at women with intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD), post mesh sling excision, and/or refractory stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
