In recent years, more studies have been dedicated to Peyronie’s disease (PD). However, data on PD incidence and prevalence likely underestimate the commonality of the condition, and even more, limited information is available on regional variations in diagnosis rates. In the United States, there are currently three population-based studies investigating the epidemiology of PD. All three studies provide limited information due to the small sample size or use of self-reported surveys, which run the risk of including individuals with conditions that are similar to PD. The objective of this study was to estimate the incidence and prevalence of PD and to examine regional variation in these rates using a large insurance encounters and claims database.
