(UroToday.com) At the non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) treatment and prognosis session at the European Association of Urology (EUA) 2021 annual meeting, Dr. Diego M. Carrion Monsalve discussed preliminary results of the PRECAVE randomized controlled trial assessing the effect of a neoadjuvant instillation of chemotherapy in the prevention of recurrences of NMBIC. Approximately half of patients do not receive an immediate postoperative instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) for NMIBC. A more feasible and accessible way to administer peri-operative chemotherapy is necessary. As such, the objective of the current study was to evaluate the efficacy of an immediate neoadjuvant instillation of chemotherapy in patients with NMIBC for the prevention of recurrences. The following results are from the interim analysis of the study.
