(UroToday.com) This year’s Whitmore Lecture at the AUA virtual annual meeting’s Society of Urologic Oncology afternoon session was delivered by Dr. Peter Carroll from UCSF. Dr. Carroll was a urologic oncology fellow under Dr. Whitmore at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in 1986 and throughout his talk provided several lessons learned, not just from his time at MSKCC, but also throughout his career. Dr. Carroll’s favorite “Whitmore-ism” is a common one when referring to prostate cancer treatment “Is cure possible? Is cure necessary? Is cure possible only when it is not necessary?”
