(UroToday.com) As part of the American Urological Association 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting’s AUA guidelines update, Steven Kaplan, MD, from Mount Sinai Medical Center provided updates to the benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) guidelines from the surgical side of treatment. The purpose of this guideline is to provide an evidence-based, multidisciplinary useful reference for clinicians that emphasizes shared decision making. For the 2018 guideline, a literature search was undertaken for articles published between January 2007-September 2017, and for the 2019 amendment, nine studies were added that were published between September 2017-January 2019. For the current 2020 amendment, two studies were added published between January 2019 and September 2019.
