The Young Academic Urologists (YAU) is encouraging young and promising urologists to join as its new members. Are you the one the YAU is searching for?

The YAU offers an established network with 10 working groups aimed to improve scientific skills and enhance academic careers. Moreover, the YAU has a close collaboration with the Young Urologists Office, the Guidelines Office, the EAU Section Office and the European School of Urology.

The benefits of becoming a part of the YAU family are better explained by the achievements attained by members. In 2020 alone, many YAU members have won recognition such as Prof. Derya Tilki, who received the prestigious Crystal Matula Award which is granted to a young promising European urological academician; Dr. Alessandro Larcher, who acquired the Hans Marberger Award for his published paper on minimally invasive surgery; and Dr. Mikkel Fode as best reviewer, to name a few.

To date, more than 50 indexed publications by YAU members in 2020 are the result of one of YAU’s core values: teamwork.

The YAU aims to promote high-quality studies that provide strong evidence for the best urological practice; and educational programmes that boost European training standards. The YAU aspires to create a platform for close international cooperation for the future urology leaders in and beyond Europe.

With the challenges brought about by COVID-19, the YAU faces these head on. YAU Chairman Juan Gómez Rivas stated, Adoption of other resources such as smart learning is critical. YAU members are actively involved in different EAU activities and projects such as the EAU education platforms (UROONCO and UROLUTS), e-courses, webinars, surgical videos, and more to facilitate e-learning. Smart learning and online resources are here to stay, and we should embrace new technology in this new era.”
